Richard Van Vliet Fine Art

Born in Amarillo, Tx., Richard grew up during the Cold War with his three brothers, was a drum major in high school, and a drummer in a band that toured with The Yardbirds in the 1960’s.  He transferred from the University of Texas to the University of Denver in 1970, where he studied fine arts under Maynard Tischler and earned his BFA.  He painted sporadically until the mid 1980’s, when he began a long period of creativity which continues to this day.

After a few shows over the past ten years, 2008 showings at Poor Richard’s Gallery and Park State Bank, Van Vliet currently has pieces up at The Warehouse Gallery near downtown Colorado Springs.  Several pieces are hanging in the San Francisco Bay Area.  He presently resides in both Colorado Springs and Park County, CO with his wife, Elizabeth, an talented painter in her own right, and their three dogs.
